Q.An agent is paid ordinary commission at 5% and del credere commission at 2% on the total sales he transacts. During a month he sold goods worth ₹2,00,000, of which ₹50,000 was on credit. Find his total earnings for the month.

The del credere commission covers the whole guarantee, so like the ordinary commission it is charged on the total sales of ₹2,00,000; the ₹50,000 credit figure is only there to describe the split and is not deducted.

Ordinary commission at 5%5\%:

5100×200000=10000.\frac{5}{100}\times 200000 = 10000.

Del credere commission at 2%2\%:

2100×200000=4000.\frac{2}{100}\times 200000 = 4000.
