Trajectory (projectile) motion is the parabolic path of a body launched with velocity u at angle θ and acted on only by gravity; its horizontal range is R = u^2 sin(2θ)/g.

When a body is projected into the air with some initial velocity u at an angle θ to the horizontal, and the only force acting on it afterward is gravity, the path it traces out is called its trajectory. This path is a parabola, and the motion is called projectile motion.

The horizontal range R (the horizontal distance covered from the point of projection to the point where the body returns to the same horizontal level) is given by:

R = u^2 sin(2θ) / g
