In the absence of a specified rate in the partnership deed, interest on a partner's loan to the firm is always allowed at 6% p.a.

A partner's loan (as distinct from capital) is a liability of the firm to that partner, like any other creditor. Section 13(d) of the Indian Partnership Act, 1932 provides that where there is no agreement, a partner is entitled to interest on money advanced by him to the firm (beyond his capital subscription) at 6% per annum.
