Debentures issued as collateral security are recorded by debiting Debenture Suspense A/c — option (2).

Sometimes a company, while taking a loan (say from a bank), additionally issues debentures to the lender purely as collateral (secondary) security — the lender can fall back on these debentures only if the company defaults on the main loan. No cash is received for these debentures; they exist only as a backup security.
