Sustainable development has economic, environmental and social dimensions, bound together by the principle of fairness to future generations.

Meaning: sustainable development is commonly defined (Brundtland Commission definition) as development that meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Achieving this requires attention to several distinct, interlinked dimensions:
