Decimal-to-binary uses repeated division by 2: divide, record each remainder, stop at quotient 0, then read the remainders from BOTTOM to TOP.

Why this works. Each division by 2 peels off the lowest binary digit (the remainder), so the remainders come out least-significant first — that is why we read them upward.

Working for (122)10:

DivisionQuotientRemainder
122 / 2610
61 / 2301
30 / 2150
15 / 271
7 / 231
3 / 211
1 / 201

Reading the remainder column bottom-up: 1111010.
