Isoelectronic ions have equal electron counts. Na+\text{Na}^+ and Mg2+\text{Mg}^{2+} share 1010 electrons, and Na+\text{Na}^+ and O2−\text{O}^{2-} also share 1010 electrons, so the correct pairs are (A) and (C).

Electron count == atomic number −- charge (subtract for cations, add for anions).

(A) Na+, Mg2+\text{Na}^+,\ \text{Mg}^{2+}: 11−1=1011-1 = 10 and 12−2=1012-2 = 10 — equal → isoelectronic.

(B) Al3+, O−\text{Al}^{3+},\ \text{O}^-: 13−3=1013-3 = 10 and 8+1=98+1 = 9 — unequal → not isoelectronic. …
