Faraday's 2nd law gives the size of the e.m.f. (rate of change of flux); Lenz's law gives its direction (it opposes the change).

Faraday's second law of electromagnetic induction: The magnitude of the e.m.f. induced in a coil is directly proportional to the rate of change of magnetic flux linked with it. For a coil of N turns,

ε=−NdΦdt,\varepsilon = -N\frac{d\Phi}{dt},

where Φ\Phi is the magnetic flux through one turn. (The negative sign is the content of Lenz's law.)
