Subtraction of Matrices

Subtraction works exactly like addition, just with elements subtracted instead of added. For two matrices A=[aij]A = [a_{ij}] and B=[bij]B = [b_{ij}] of the same order m×nm \times n, their difference is

A−B=[aij−bij]A - B = [a_{ij} - b_{ij}]

As with addition, subtraction is defined only when both matrices share the same order, since it works entry by entry on corresponding positions. A running example: if one matrix records the number of boys and girls in Group I of an activity and another records Group II, then G1−G2G_1 - G_2 tel …
