Q.Write a short note on village sarvodaya.

Village Sarvodaya is Gandhi's vision of the welfare of all ("Sarvodaya") realised through self-reliant village republics, cottage industries and care for the poorest — a model of decentralised rural development.

Sarvodaya means the "welfare / upliftment of all." Mahatma Gandhi coined the term (inspired by Ruskin's Unto This Last), and Village Sarvodaya applies this ideal to rural India.

Main ideas of village sarvodaya:

• Gram Swaraj (village self-rule) — each village should be a self-sufficient, self-governing republic managing its own affairs.
• Self-reliance — the village should meet its basic needs (food, clothing, shelter) locally through cottage and village industries such as khadi and handicrafts.
• Dignity of labour and bread labour — everyone should engage in productive manual work.
• Antyodaya — development must begin with the upliftment of the last and weakest person in society. …
