Step 1. A string clamped rigidly at both ends (x=0,Lx=0,L) can only sustain standing waves whose displacement vanishes at both boundaries, forcing the allowed wavelengths to be λn=2L/n\lambda_n=2L/n for positive integer n, with corresponding natural frequencies fn=nv/(2L)f_n=nv/(2L).
