Organism and its Environment
Every living organism has its own particular surrounding, or environment, with which it continuously interacts and to which it develops adaptations suited for survival. Environment is a broad, collective term for the whole set of conditions in which an organism lives -- the common influencing factors found in virtually any environment are light, temperature, pressure, water, and salinity, and because these are non-living physical and chemical conditions, they are grouped together as abiotic components. These conditions are never fixed: temperature and light both shift on a diurnal (day-to-night) cycle and a seasonal one across the year, and organisms inhabiting that environment are shaped by these swings in turn.
