Starting from the pass book balance ₹3,000, add the un-cleared deposits and the bank charges; deduct the un-presented cheques and the interest credited.

Balance as per cash book = ₹2,200 (matches the NCERT key).

Treatment. Cheques paid in but not yet cleared (₹1,500) make the cash book higher than the passbook, so starting from the passbook we add. Bank charges (₹300) had reduced the passbook only, so the cash book is higher — add. Cheques issued but not presented (₹2,500) had reduced the cash book only, so we deduct; interest credited in the passbook only (₹100) makes the passbook higher — deduct.
