Part (a): Income method — classify enterprises → classify/estimate factor incomes (COE + Operating Surplus + Mixed income) → sum to NDP at FC → add NFIA to get National Income (NNP at FC).

Part (b): Using the base-year-price (real) figures, %ΔReal GDP = (6000 − 5000)/5000 × 100 = 20%.

Part (a): Income Method — steps

The income method estimates national income by summing the factor incomes generated in producing the domestic output.

  1. Identify and classify producing enterprises employing factors of production, grouped into primary, secondary and tertiary sectors.
  2. Classify factor incomes into the standard heads:
    • Compensation of Employees (COE) — wages/salaries in cash and kind, plus employers' contributions to social security.
    • Operating Surplus — income from property and entrepreneurship: rent and royalty + interest + profit (profit = corporate tax + dividends + undistributed profits).
    • Mixed Income of the Self-Employed — income of own-account workers where wages, rent, interest and profit cannot be separated.
  3. Estimate the factor incomes of each sector and sum them to obtain domestic income:

NDPFC=COE+Operating Surplus+Mixed Income\text{NDP}_{FC} = \text{COE} + \text{Operating Surplus} + \text{Mixed Income}

  1. Add Net Factor Income from Abroad (NFIA) to convert domestic income into national income:

National Income=NNPFC=NDPFC+NFIA\text{National Income} = \text{NNP}_{FC} = \text{NDP}_{FC} + \text{NFIA} …
