Ideal solutions obey Raoult's law exactly with no volume/enthalpy change on mixing; non-ideal solutions deviate from Raoult's law and show a volume/enthalpy change on mixing.

Ideal solution:

  1. Obeys Raoult's law over the entire range of concentration, i.e. pA=pA0xAp_A = p_A^0x_A and pB=pB0xBp_B = p_B^0x_B for every composition.
