Part (a): For a snakebite the doctor injects preformed antibodies (anti-venom / antitoxin) to neutralise the fast-acting venom immediately, giving passive immunity. Part (b): Organic (biological) pest control depends on natural predators of the pest, so complete eradication of the pest would destroy those predators — hence a small pest population is retained.

(i) What the doctor injected and why. Snake venom is a mixture of powerful, rapidly acting toxins, so there is no time for the farmer's immune system to produce its own antibodies (which would take days to weeks). The doctor therefore injects ready-made (preformed) antibodies — an antitoxin / anti-snake-venom serum (usually raised in horses).
