Typhoid, caused by Salmonella typhi, presents with sustained high fever and severe headache/weakness; it spreads mainly through food and water contaminated with the bacteria from an infected person's faeces.

(i) Symptoms of typhoid: The disease is characterised by a sustained (continuous) high fever, typically 39-40C, which may last for several weeks if untreated. Along with fever, the patient experiences intense weakness, severe headache, abdominal (stomach) pain, and constipation, and may develop rose-coloured spots on the skin/chest. Loss of appetite is also common. (Any two of these - e.g. sustained high fever and severe headache/weakness - answer the question.)
