Peak to zero takes a quarter of the period; for 50 Hz that is T/4 = 0.005 s.

An AC of the form i=i0sin⁡(2πft)i = i_0 \sin(2\pi f t) starts at zero, reaches its peak i0i_0 after a quarter cycle, returns to zero after half a cycle, and so on.

The time interval between a peak and the next zero is therefore one-quarter of the time period:

t=T4=14ft = \frac{T}{4} = \frac{1}{4f}
