Funds pay Team A for 21 days or Team B for 28 days alone; paying both together, the money lasts 12 days.

If a fixed fund FF pays a team for dd days, the team's daily wage =Fd=\dfrac{F}{d}. If two teams work together, the fund is drawn down at the sum of their daily wages, and lasts Fcombined daily wage\dfrac{F}{\text{combined daily wage}} days.

  1. Daily wage needed for Team A alone: F21\dfrac{F}{21} (fund pays A for 21 days).
  2. Daily wage needed for Team B alone: F28\dfrac{F}{28} (fund pays B for 28 days).
  3. If both teams work simultaneously, combined daily wage =F21+F28=\dfrac{F}{21}+\dfrac{F}{28}.
  4. LCM of 21 and 28 is 84: F21=4F84\dfrac{F}{21}=\dfrac{4F}{84}, F28=3F84\dfrac{F}{28}=\dfrac{3F}{84}. …
