Food in the frog travels in the order mouth, buccal cavity, oesophagus, stomach, intestine, rectum, cloaca, and finally out through the cloacal aperture.

The frog's alimentary canal is a continuous tube specialised region by region for capturing, digesting and absorbing food, and finally eliminating waste. Food is first captured at the mouth, largely with the help of the muscular, bilobed tongue, and passes into the buccal cavity, where it is moistened.
