Compensating errors are two or more errors that cancel out each other's effect, so the Trial Balance is not affected.

Meaning

Compensating errors (also called offsetting errors) are errors that make up for, or neutralise, each other. The wrong debit (or over/under recording) in one account is exactly balanced by an equal and opposite wrong credit (or under/over recording) in another account.
