First compute the slope through the two given points (1,2)(1,2) and (3,8)(3,8):

m=8−23−1=62=3m = \dfrac{8-2}{3-1} = \dfrac{6}{2} = 3

Now apply point-slope form using (x1,y1)=(1,2)(x_1,y_1)=(1,2):
