Psoralea corylifolia (bakuchi), a member of family Fabaceae, is the plant traditionally used for treating leprosy and leucoderma (vitiligo).

Psoralea corylifolia is an important medicinal plant whose seeds contain psoralen and other furanocoumarin compounds. These compounds are photosensitising — when applied to the skin along with exposure to sunlight (a treatment historically related to PUVA-type therapy), they stimulate melanin (pigment) formation in the skin, which is used to treat leucoderma (loss of skin pigmentation) and has also been used in traditional treatment of leprosy-related skin lesions.
