Having built up the individual tissues (9.1-9.2) and the tissue systems that organise them (9.3-9.6), the chapter now puts both together by walking through the actual primary internal structure of six representative organs - a dicot and a monocot root, a dicot and a monocot stem, and a dicot and a monocot leaf - each examined by cutting a transverse (and sometimes longitudinal) section and reading off, from the outside in, exactly which tissue occupies which layer.
