Stratospheric Pollution

At high altitude, the atmosphere holds a layer of ozone (O₃) that acts as an umbrella or shield against harmful UV radiation, protecting us from harmful effects such as skin cancer. UV radiation itself is what converts molecular oxygen into ozone, as shown below:
