Solubility of a solute is the maximum amount of that solute that can be dissolved in a specific amount of solvent, at a specified temperature. Once this maximum has been reached, dissolving any further solute is impossible under the same conditions -- any additional solute added simply stays undissolved (precipitates), at that fixed temperature and pressure.
