Step 2. CT scanning instead captures a large series of two-dimensional X-ray images taken from all around a single axis of rotation, and uses digital geometry processing to reconstruct these into a true three-dimensional representation of the internals of the body.
Step 3. Because CT produces a whole volume of data rather than one flat image, that data can be manipulated afterward through a process called windowing, letting a radiologist bring out different structures - bone, soft tissue, or other tissue types - based on how strongly each blocks the X-ray beam, without needing to re-scan the patient. …
