Physiotherapy is the therapeutic use of graded, structured exercise to restore near-normal function to the limbs, delivered by trained physiotherapists as a recognised rehabilitation profession present across all types of healthcare centres. A very common problem after fracture treatment is that the immobilised limb develops muscle wasting and joint stiffness from disuse — physiotherapy, through carefully progressed exercises, restores strength and mobility in these cases. Beyond post-fracture recovery, physiotherapy has also proven effective in post-surgical rehabilitation and in the ongoing management of conditions such as arthritis, spondylosis, other musculoskeletal disorders, stroke, …
