(a) Five of Henri Fayol's principles of modern management are Division of Work, Authority and Responsibility, Discipline, Unity of Command, and Unity of Direction. (a) Principles of Modern Management (Henri Fayol) — any five:

  1. Division of Work: dividing work into small tasks and assigning them to specialists increases efficiency and speed through specialisation.
  2. Authority and Responsibility: managers need authority to give orders, and authority must always be matched with equal responsibility so it is used properly.
  3. Discipline: employees must obey and respect the agreed rules and agreements of the organisation; discipline requires good superiors and clear rules.
  4. Unity of Command: each employee should receive orders from, and be answerable to, only one superior, to avoid confusion and conflict.
  5. Unity of Direction: all activities having the same objective should have one head and one plan, so that efforts are coordinated toward a common goal. (Other Fayol principles include Subordination of Individual Interest to General Interest, Remuneration, Centralisation, Scalar Chain, Order, Equity, Stability of Tenure, Initiative and Esprit de Corps.)

(b) Steps in filing a complaint in a Consumer court — any five:

  1. Choose the correct forum: decide whether to approach the District, State or National Commission depending on the value of the goods/services and compensation claimed.
  2. Prepare the complaint in writing: state the complainant's and opposite party's names and addresses, the facts, the defect or deficiency, and the relief sought. …
