An imitative (adoptive) entrepreneur copies and adopts the innovations and methods already introduced by innovative entrepreneurs rather than creating new ones.

The economist Danhof classified entrepreneurs by their stage of development into innovative, imitative (adoptive), Fabian and drone entrepreneurs. The imitative entrepreneur is the second type.
