The distance between two parallel lines ax+by+c1=0ax+by+c_1=0 and ax+by+c2=0ax+by+c_2=0 (same a,ba,b) is ∣c1−c2∣a2+b2\dfrac{|c_1-c_2|}{\sqrt{a^2+b^2}}.

Given lines: 5x−3y−4=05x-3y-4=0 and 10x−6y−9=010x-6y-9=0.

Divide the second by 22 so both lines share the same a,ba,b:

5x−3y−92=05x-3y-\tfrac{9}{2}=0

Now both lines have a=5, b=−3a=5,\ b=-3, with c1=−4c_1=-4 and c2=−92c_2=-\tfrac92.
