Merits of Road Transport (any three)
- Door-to-door service. Goods can be collected from the seller's premises and delivered straight to the buyer's door without reloading, which rail, sea or air cannot do.
- Flexibility. Routes and timings can be changed easily; vehicles can reach interior villages, hilly areas and places not served by railways.
- Low capital investment. Compared with railways or shipping, road transport needs much less investment in fixed assets, so it is cheaper to start and operate.
- Suitable for short distances and perishables. It is quick, convenient and economical for short and medium distances and for carrying perishable goods.
- Feeder service. It links railway stations, ports and airports, feeding goods to and from them.
Demerits of Road Transport (any two)
