Newton's three laws cover, in order: why objects keep moving (inertia), how force changes their motion (momentum/acceleration), and why forces always come in equal-opposite pairs (reaction).

Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1727) came up with three general rules about the movement of objects, now known as Newton's Three Laws of Motion:

  1. First Law (Law of Inertia): a body will remain at rest or continue to move at a constant velocity unless acted upon by an external (resultant) force.
  2. Second Law (Law of Momentum): the rate of change of momentum is proportional to the resultant force, and takes place in the direction of that force — equivalently, acceleration is proportional to net force and inversely proportional to mass.
  3. Third Law (Law of Reaction): for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction — whenever one object exerts a force on a second, the second exerts an equal and opposite force back on the first.
✓Final answer

Newton's three laws are the Law of Inertia (First), the Law of Momentum (Second), and the Law of Reaction (Third).
