Gauss's law: the net electric flux through a closed surface equals the enclosed charge divided by epsilon_0, i.e. phi = q_enc/epsilon_0.

Electric flux (phi) through a surface is a measure of the number of electric field lines crossing it, defined as the surface integral of the electric field over the area.

Statement of Gauss's law: The total electric flux through any closed surface (called a Gaussian surface) is equal to 1/epsilon_0 times the total (net) electric charge enclosed within that surface. Mathematically,

phi_E = closed-surface integral of (E . dA) = q_enclosed / epsilon_0,

where E is the electric field, dA is the outward area element vector, epsilon_0 is the permittivity of free space, and q_enclosed is the net charge inside the closed surface.
