This SMS is a phishing (smishing) scam — (a) never SMS your PIN to anyone, and (b) yes, verify only via the bank's official helpline number taken from your card or the bank's website, never from the SMS itself.

The concept (phishing awareness). Phishing messages impersonate a trusted institution, manufacture urgency (a large transaction of Rs. 20,010, "urgently"), and ask for a secret credential (the PIN). The give-away is the request itself: a bank already has everything it needs to reverse a fraudulent transaction — it will never ask a customer to send a PIN, OTP or password by SMS, email or phone.

a) Will you SMS your PIN to the given number? — NO.

  • The PIN is the key to the account; whoever holds it (with the card details they may already have) can withdraw money.
  • The number 03036665458 is the fraudster's number, not the bank's; the entire SMS exists to harvest PINs from panicked customers.
  • Even if the transaction alert were genuine, the correct response never involves revealing the PIN.

b) Will you call the bank helpline to recheck the validity of the SMS? — YES.

  • Take the helpline number from a trusted source: the back of the ATM/debit card, the bank's official website, the passbook — not any number printed in the suspicious SMS. …
