While preparing a training plan, a coach needs to keep in mind each of the ten principles from section 10.1.3: training must be continuous (regular, no long gaps); load must be progressively increased, carefully (overload, not excessive); general fitness work should come first with specific training increasing gradually; the plan should start uniform but become individualised for sex, age, psychological differences and training level; the plan should be periodized into macro/meso/micro cycles, each ending in recovery; every session needs proper warming-up and limbering down; both player and coach must show active participation (the law of readiness); the plan needs variety so motivation does not fade over a long process; and it must build in rest and recovery, since the body regenerates and strengthens during rest. …
