Reaction with dilute HCl is protonation of the amine, so the most basic amine in water reacts most readily. Dimethylamine, the secondary amine, is the strongest base of the set - option (ii).

Concept

An amine reacts with HCl by donating its N lone pair to H+. The stronger the base in the given medium, the more reactive it is.

Basicity of methylamines in water

Three factors compete: (1) inductive (+I) donation favours 3 degree > 2 degree > 1 degree; (2) solvation of the ammonium ion favours 1 degree > 2 degree > 3 degree (smaller, less-hindered cations hydrate better); (3) steric hindrance around N in 3 degree amines hampers protonation. The net experimental order in water is (CH3)2NH > CH3NH2 > (CH3)3N. Aniline is much weaker still because its lone pair is delocalised into the aromatic ring.
