Community Sports – Purpose and Benefits

Community sports is a society-based practice of connecting and engaging people with opportunities to take part in sport, exercise and fitness activity. It can act as the backbone of health-promotion drives within a community, reaching every kind of member — school children, adults, elders and socially vulnerable groups alike.

These events are run for a wide variety of purposes by involving ordinary citizens and residents of a locality — community awareness programmes, social campaigns, talent searches, recreation and much more. Community sports are often described as low-threshold activities, which makes them a powerful way to draw a very wide range of people into being physically active.
