Figure — Standard 2-input NOR gate logic symbol

NOR = OR + NOT, Y=A+B‾Y=\overline{A+B}; output is 1 only when both inputs are 0.

Definition: A NOR gate is a combination of an OR gate and a NOT gate (NOR = NOT of OR). For inputs AA and BB the output is

Y=A+B‾.Y=\overline{A+B}.

It gives output 1 only when all inputs are 0; if any input is 1 the output is 0.

Logic symbol: an OR-gate shape (curved back, pointed front) with a small circle (bubble) at the output to denote inversion:

 A ---\\
       )O--- Y = (A+B)'
 B ---/
