Interest on drawings (₹4,500 total) was never charged, so the profit that should have been reduced by that amount instead flowed straight into the 5:3:2 split. Working out who gained and who lost gives a single entry: Sonu Dr. ₹150, Himesh Dr. ₹100, To Nusrat ₹250.

Concept

Interest on drawings is a CREDIT to the Profit and Loss Appropriation Account (it increases distributable profit) and a DEBIT to each partner individually. Omitting it means the firm's distributable profit was overstated by the total interest, and that excess got shared 5:3:2 instead of being charged partner-by-partner in the amounts actually due.

Working Notes

Step 1 — Interest on drawings that should have been charged (10% p.a.):

  • Nusrat: 10% of ₹20,000 = ₹2,000
  • Sonu: 10% of ₹15,000 = ₹1,500
  • Himesh: 10% of ₹10,000 = ₹1,000
  • Total = ₹4,500

Step 2 — Statement of Net Effect
