Share capital of a company passes through several named stages: Authorised (Nominal/Registered) Capital is the maximum capital a company is permitted to raise, stated in its Memorandum of Association. Out of this, the company offers only a part for subscription at a time — this offered portion is the Issued Capital. Out of the issued capital, the part actually subscribed (applied for and allotted) by the public becomes Subscribed Capital, and the part of the subscribed capital that the company has actually called up from shareholders (even if not all of it has been received yet) is the Called-up Capital.
