A food web is an interconnected network of food chains in an ecosystem. OR: air pollution mainly arises from burning fossil fuels and vehicular/industrial emissions.

A food web is a network of interconnected food chains operating within an ecosystem, in which several organisms are linked at various trophic levels, and an organism can be eaten by, or eat, more than one type of organism.

In a grassland ecosystem: grasses (producers) are consumed by herbivores/primary consumers such as grasshoppers, rabbits, deer and cattle; these herbivores are, in turn, preyed upon by secondary consumers such as frogs, snakes and small birds; which are further eaten by tertiary/top consumers such as hawks and larger carnivores. Because many herbivores feed on more than one kind of plant, and many predators feed on more than one kind of prey, the individual food chains interconnect into a complex food web, which provides greater stability to the grassland ecosystem than a single, isolated food chain would.
