The human endocrine system is made up of a number of glands, each releasing one or more hormones directly into the blood. The hypothalamus, at the base of the forebrain, secretes releasing and inhibiting hormones (such as TRH, GnRH, CRH, GHRH, somatostatin) that regulate the anterior pituitary, and also manufactures oxytocin and vasopressin for release from the posterior pituitary. The pituitary gland, the 'master gland', has an anterior lobe secreting growth hormone (GH), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinising hormone (LH) and prolactin, and a posterior lobe releasing oxytocin and vasopressin (ADH). The pineal gland secretes melatonin, regulating the sleep-wake (circadian) rhythm. The thyroid gland secretes the metabolism-regulating hormones T3 and T4, and calcitonin, which lowers blood calcium. The parathyroid glands secrete parathyroid hormone (PTH), which raises blood calcium. The adrenal glands secrete, from the cortex, mineralocorticoids (aldosterone), glucocorticoids (cortisol) and minor sex corticoids, and from the medulla, adrenaline and noradrenaline. The pancreas's islets of Langerhans secrete insulin (lowers blood glucose) and glucagon (raises blood glucose). The gonads -- testis and ovary -- secrete testosterone, and estrogen and progesterone respectively, governing secondary sexual characters and reproductive physiology.

[!ANSWER]

Hypothalamus (releasing/inhibiting hormones), Pituitary (GH, TSH, ACTH, FSH/LH, prolactin, oxytocin, vasopressin), Pineal (melatonin), Thyroid (T3/T4, calcitonin), Parathyroid (PTH), Adrenal (cortisol, aldosterone, adrenaline), Pancreas (insulin, glucagon), Gonads (testosterone; estrogen, progesterone).
