The percentages reveal shifts in the financing and asset structure that the shrinking rupee totals alone cannot.
Concept
For a common size balance sheet the base is total assets (equal to total liabilities) = 100%, never total equity. Every asset is shown as a percentage of total assets and every liability as a percentage of total liabilities. This vertical-analysis tool lets you compare a company across years, or two companies of different sizes, on structure rather than absolute rupees.
Working Note
Each year uses its own total as the base: ₹41,50,000 for 2016 and ₹32,50,000 for 2017. For example, share capital in 2016 = 15,00,000 ÷ 41,50,000 × 100 = 36.14%; in 2017 = 12,00,000 ÷ 32,50,000 × 100 = 36.93%.
