The KWL chart's first two columns are personal (what you already know/want to know); the third ("What I Learned") can be filled in using section 2.2's own descriptions of each deformity, summarised below.

This chart is meant to be completed BEFORE you study section 2.2 in detail, so your own "What I Know" and "What I Want to Know" columns should reflect your honest starting knowledge — there is no fixed right answer for those two columns.

For the "What I Learned" column, section 2.2 explains each of the seven deformities:

  • Knock knees (Genu valgum): knees touch while a 3-4 inch gap remains between the ankles; usually corrects itself by age 7-8.
  • Flat foot (pes planus): no arch, or a very low one, so the whole sole touches the floor.
  • Round shoulders: shoulders bent forward from ideal alignment, narrowing the upper back's curve.
  • Lordosis: reduced arc angle of the lower back, exaggerating its normal inward curve ("sway back"). …
