Wien's displacement law states that lambda_m T = constant, i.e., hotter bodies emit their peak radiation at shorter wavelengths.

Every body at a temperature above absolute zero emits electromagnetic (thermal) radiation over a range of wavelengths, called the black body spectrum, which has a definite peak at some wavelength lambda_m. Wien's displacement law states that this peak wavelength lambda_m is inversely proportional to the absolute temperature T of the body:

lambda_m proportional to 1/T, i.e., lambda_m T = b

where b is Wien's constant, b = 2.898 x 10^-3 m K.
