Keats builds the poem from vivid natural imagery and devices — metaphor, personification, alliteration and rhymed couplets — to argue that beauty is a permanent, healing joy.

The extract is full of visual imagery drawn from nature: 'the sun, the moon,' 'Trees old, and young,' 'daffodils / With the green world they live in,' 'clear rills,' and 'the mid forest brake, / Rich with a sprinkling of fair musk-rose blooms.' These concrete pictures make beauty sensuous and easy to see.

Keats relies heavily on metaphor.
