Plan thoughtful questions, interview someone you admire, and write the exchange up faithfully — here is how, with a sample.

To do this well, apply what the lesson teaches about a good interview. First choose a person you genuinely admire — perhaps a favourite teacher, a sports coach, a shopkeeper or a social worker in your neighbourhood. Prepare six to eight open questions in advance about their life, work, challenges and beliefs, and avoid overly personal questions that might embarrass them (recall Part I's warning about intrusion). During the interview, listen carefully and ask follow-up questions based on the answers, just as Mukund does with Eco. Afterwards, write it up in a clear question-and-answer form, or as a short report, keeping the person's own words where they are striking.
