Demand depends on own price, income, related-goods prices, tastes, expectations and population.

The quantity of a good demanded is governed by several determinants (any six):

  1. Price of the good — Normally demand falls when the good's own price rises and rises when it falls (law of demand).
  2. Income of the consumer — For normal goods, demand rises with income; for inferior goods it falls as income rises.
  3. Prices of related goods — A rise in the price of a substitute (tea for coffee) raises demand for the good; a rise in the price of a complement (petrol for cars) lowers demand.
