Given: CI=210CI = 210 for n=2n = 2 years at R=10%R = 10\% p.a., compounded annually; find the sum PP.

Method 1 — CI formula.

CI=P[(1+R100)2−1]=P[(1.1)2−1]=P[1.21−1]=0.21P.CI = P\left[\left(1 + \dfrac{R}{100}\right)^{2} - 1\right] = P[(1.1)^{2} - 1] = P[1.21 - 1] = 0.21P.

So 0.21P=210⇒P=2100.21=10000.21P = 210 \Rightarrow P = \dfrac{210}{0.21} = 1000. This is option (a). …
